Why Become a Meet Director

At the USPA, we see a world where everybody is an athlete. Driven by our passion for powerlifting, our goal is to ensure that lifters are provided an opportunity and location of showcasing the result of their efforts in a safe and competitive environment.

As a USPA Meet Director, you will be the face of the USPA and a trailblazer in progressing the sport of powerlifting. From registration to competition day, it all starts with you to provide the ultimate experience for USPA lifters. If you’re looking to expand the sport of powerlifting and make a difference in the lives of powerlifters, we invite you to join our team.

Basic Requirements

You are a USPA Referee and an active USPA member
You have previously directed or assisted others in running powerlifting events
You own or have access to adequate facilities to host events
You have equipment, including sufficient plates, bars, racks, and other items needed to run a contest that meets USPA specifications
You are customer service-oriented, have leadership qualities, and are proactive in responding to and handling any member inquiries or issues that may arise
You have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Social Media, a good understanding of general media landscape, and learn new programs quickly
You are at least 18 years of age

What Are The Qualifications?

Affiliate gyms must be a commercially located facility with qualified staff and sufficient equipment to accommodate training of the squat, benchpress, and deadlift. Each facility must also have a USPA Certified Coach on staff.

The USPA may, at their discretion, and based on the experience of the gym/trainers, grant a temporary 12-month extension of the Certified Coach requirement. This will be determined after the USPA office reviews each affiliate application. Affiliate Applications are submitted on-line with the USPA’s electronic application.

How much does it cost?

The current rate is $550/year. There’s also a one-time fee of $60.00 for a banner. Gyms that affiliate at the current rate are guaranteed the same rate for each subsequent year of renewal. Rates for future Affiliation is subject to change.

How do I get started and what is the process?

Submit an on-line USPA Affiliate Application. You will be contacted by a USPA staff member within 2-3 business days once your application is reviewed. Once approved, you will be given a link to access the next step.
Complete the on-line Affiliate Agreement. This step finalizes the contract and payment process.
