When you join the USPA, you’re joining a synergistic community of lifters who share the same passion for powerlifting. We’ve witnessed the inception of many lifelong friendships.
With USPA meet directors all across the nation, you’ll never find a sparse event calendar. USPA members can compete anywhere in the U.S., regardless of residency.
I started weight-training in 1982, discovered the sport of Powerlifting in 1985 and competed in my first Powerlifting competition in 1987 Squatting 380, Benching 300, and Deadlifting 415. I have been providing medical coverage in Powerlifting Meets since 1999 and I have been Medical Director at over 50 Local, National, and World Powerlifting Meets. I have been a Powerlifting Referee since 2004.

At SCU, I oversaw all aspects of the Sports Medicine, Strength & Conditioning, and Human Performance Education and Clinic Programs; including supervising and preparing resident physicians for extensive rotations with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and National Teams (TEAM USA) Athletics. I served as Team Doctor for eight high schools, three universities, one community college, and hundreds of athletic events.
My educational background includes a Bachelor’s of Science (BS) in Exercise Science from the University of Southern California (USC), a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership (MEd) from Chapman University, a Doctorate Degree (DC) in Chiropractic Medicine from the Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCUHS), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) and Terminal (Diplomate) Board Certifications (DACBSP) from the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (ACBSP) as well as USPA Coach Certification.
My patients include professional, amateur, and recreational strength athletes. My practice specializes in providing Advanced Sports Medicine Care (diagnostics, progressions, rehabilitation, and physical medicine) to strength athletes. I have worked with over thirty-three High Schools in developing practical and educational Sports Medicine and Strength & Conditioning Programs. I have been awarded the Best Original Research at the ACBSP Chiropractic Sports Sciences Symposium multiple times for combining my expertise in Sports Medicine, Strength & Conditioning, and Education. I have been recognized for developing innovative Sports Medicine and Strength & Conditioning programs at the high school and collegiate levels.
Currently, I serve the Orange County Department of Education developing county-wide Health Education curriculum, providing Athletic Health Consultation, and overseeing several California State-Wide Health Initiatives. I have served on committees providing Health Recommendations to the California Superintendent of Schools and rewritten state-wide curriculum presenting required Health Standards using practical and innovative methodologies to increase student awareness, interaction, and retention.
